MLCKP2022-036 :: APARNA NAIR

I am Aparna Nair from the US (New Jersey based) . On career front, IT software development is my passion and I love learning new technology concepts and enjoy being part of challenging projects. My art/craft journey started at a very young age with my mother being my first Guru and source of inspiration! She used to teach us drawing basics and interest in crafts just developed by looking at all her creative projects like sweaters, wall hangings, beadwork, tatting, crochet etc. We moved to US in 1995 and enthusiasm and urge to learn more just kept growing and I indulged in knitting, crochet, tatting, soft toys (animals), embroidery, painting, woodcarving and sculpting. I was then introduced to Rhinebeck fiber festival that is held every year in October. Fields of spinning and weaving were areas that I was exposed to due these fiber festivals. It was through these festivals that I got an opportunity to introduce Aari, Kashmiri and Mirror Embroidery . To add on , I was introduced to different types of Indian traditional arts like Madhubani, Warli, Gond, Phad, Pattachitra, Kerala Mural, Tanjore, Lippan , Rogan, kalamkari, Thangka, Pichwai, Kalighat, Mysore painting during these past 2 years and also completed my Fevicryl teacher training course last year.
